Describe the job.
We'll work it out.

A photo of the geyser, a plan of the flat, or just a sentence. It asks what it needs, then prices the answer from the same rates as the calculator — not from a guess.

Tell me about the job — a leak, a geyser, low pressure, a bathroom, a shell to first-fix — and roughly what the property is.

Attach a photo of the problem or the room and it will say what the work involves. Files are passed straight to the assistant and never stored. Answers come from this site's own rate card. Where we do not publish a rate — pump and tank fitting, appliance connections — it will say so rather than guess.

Emergency call-out

Water where it shouldn’t be?
Send this now.

A burst pipe, water through a ceiling, a geyser flooding, a blocked drain backing up. Fill this in and it reaches us marked as an emergency, day or night. Someone rings you back as soon as it lands.

While you wait

  • Turn off the stopcock
  • Switch the geyser off at the board
  • Move anything electrical away from the water

The emergency call-out band on this site is published so you know what the visit costs before you send this.

Emergency call-out

Marked as an emergency the moment it arrives. This is a request for a call-back, not a confirmed attendance. If anyone is in danger, ring 112.

How Plumbers.mt works

Most plumbing jobs in Malta run on a phone number and a promise. We replace that with a contractor: a site visit, an itemised quote against a published rate card, a verified plumber who turns up when they said they would, and someone accountable if the job leaks. You deal with us; we deal with the trade.

01
📐
Site visit
A plumber looks at the runs, the pressure and what has failed, and writes down what the job actually is — free, no obligation. Emergencies skip this step.
02
📊
Itemised quote
A fixed price, line by line, against the same rate card the calculator uses. Nothing hidden in a lump sum.
03
✅

Nothing starts until you have read the scope and said yes. Anything found behind a wall is priced before it is done.

Verified delivery

We walk the job with you, and we are the number you ring if anything is wrong afterwards.

Verified,
not just available.

Malta has no statutory plumber's licence: the Water Services Corporation keeps no register and ARMS asks nothing of a plumber on a new-connection form, while it asks an electrician for a signed declaration. The only credential is the voluntary Construction Industry Skill Card. In practice, anyone with a van can call themselves a plumber.

That is why verification matters more in this trade than in most. CheckYourTraders checks identity, insurance and track record, publishes reviews from real customers, and gives the plumber a right of reply. Every plumber we use has passed that, and we are the contractor who answers for the job.

Need more than plumbing?

Plumbers.mt is one of the CheckYourTraders trade sites. The same verified network, the same rate-card discipline, the same contractor model — for the other trades a property needs.

We are actively looking for
the best plumbers in Malta.

Plumbers.mt delivers jobs as the contractor, and every plumber on one comes from the CheckYourTraders-verified network. We want the ones who pressure-test before they close a wall, answer the phone on a Sunday, and put their work in front of a customer without flinching — in Malta and Gozo.

Tell us what you do and where you work. When a job comes up that fits, we will put you in front of it.

We read every one. Verification through CheckYourTraders comes first; nobody goes on a job of ours without it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a plumber cost in Malta?
Published Maltese guides in 2026 put a plumber at €20 to €50 an hour, a daytime call-out at €20 to €50 and an emergency call-out at night or at the weekend at €45 to €95, with emergency labour at €50 to €100 an hour. The calculator carries those bands, and the common jobs beside them: a leak repair €50 to €150, drain unblocking €60 to €200, a WC installation €80 to €250, a full bathroom re-plumb €1,500 to €4,000.
Do plumbers need a licence in Malta?
No. There is no statutory plumber's licence and the Water Services Corporation keeps no register; the only credential is the voluntary Construction Industry Skill Card run by the Building and Construction Authority. That is why every plumber on a job of ours is verified by CheckYourTraders — identity, insurance, track record and reviews — and why we stand behind the work as the contractor.
Why is my water pressure so low?
Maltese mains pressure is low, which is why most homes run a roof tank and a pressure pump. When the pump fails, the float valve sticks or the tank runs dry, the taps slow to a dribble. Pumps cost €60 to €240 at Maltese counters and tanks €78 to over €1,000 by size; fitting is quoted on site because no Maltese guide publishes a figure.
How long does a geyser last in Malta?
Eight to twelve years in Maltese water, which is hard enough to scale an element well before then. A replacement unit is €150 to €400 and fitting €80 to €200; an element or thermostat is €60 to €130, and a descale with a new anode every two or three years, at €80 to €150, is what stretches the life.
Is there a grant for a solar water heater?
Yes. The 2025 Water Heater Scheme run by the Regulator for Energy and Water Services is open until 31 December 2026 for solar and heat-pump water heaters; you apply before you buy and again after commissioning, and the installer's commissioning certificate is required. Maltese suppliers price 160 to 300 litre stainless systems at €2,200 to €3,300 installed before a grant of up to €1,400.
Does a new house need a well?
Yes. Regulation 10 of the Development Planning (Health and Sanitary) Regulations, Legal Notice 227 of 2016, requires every new development to have a rainwater reservoir sized to Technical Document F and connected to a pump. The plumber connects the pump and the second-class supply to the WCs, the washing machine and the garden.
What does the Water Services Corporation need for a new meter?
ARMS Form A with the Planning Authority compliance certificate number, a site plan, ID and photographs of the façade and the meter position. The residential connection fee is €345, non-residential €760, plus €23.29 per metre beyond seven metres, and a €500 deposit if you are not the owner. Nothing is asked of the plumber on the form.
Do you cover Gozo?
Yes. Plumbers local to Gozo from the same verified network, so nobody is paying for a ferry to fix a tap.
Is the calculator a quote?
No. It is an honest figure from a published rate card so you know what you are walking into. A free site visit turns it into a fixed, itemised quote, and nothing starts until you have approved that.
What do I do if water is pouring through the ceiling?
Turn off the stopcock, switch off the geyser, and ring the emergency number. The call-out band is published on this site so you know what the visit costs before you ring.
